ACUARELA DISCOS PRESENTS THE VINYL REISSUE: MIGALA – “ARDE”
Acuarela is proud to present the first-ever vinyl edition of “Arde” (originally 2000), the landmark third album by MIGALA — one of the most influential and critically acclaimed Spanish independent albums of all time, and a cornerstone of early-2000s post-rock and alt-folk worldwide.
“Arde” is the creative peak of the Madrid-based experimental collective: 14 cinematic, hypnotic, and emotionally devastating songs that masterfully blend post-rock atmospheres, alt-folk introspection, traditional Spanish elements, and complex, often cathartic arrangements.
The album was originally released in Spain on Acuarela in December 2000, but its US breakthrough came thanks to Stuart David (Belle & Sebastian/Looper), who championed the band to Sub Pop. This led to Migala’s first US single as the October 2000 edition of the Sub Pop Singles Club, followed by Sub Pop’s full-length release of “Arde” on July 2001 — marking their official US debut and a dedicated American tour.
Pitchfork awarded it a 9.3/10 in 2001 — the highest score the publication has ever given to any Spanish artist, a record that still stands — describing it as “nothing short of elemental in its beauty” and praising its dark, poetic, and immersive atmosphere. This new edition has been painstakingly remastered from the original Cubase projects (summer/fall 2000). Every track was exported individually and given a fresh, zero-compromise mastering. The result is a significantly clearer, more open, defined, and powerful sound — especially in the rhythmic foundation — while fully preserving the warm, organic lo-fi character of the original.
Key commercial details:
An absolute must-have for Europe/US indie, post-rock, alt-folk, and collector sections — a genuine classic that belongs in every serious record store and deserves rediscovery.
