Originally released in 2001 on Sympathy for the Record Industry, The High Life Suite is Baby Lemonade’s last album. A song cycle about friends, fallen stars and time travel, the band rehearsed and recorded the album in the same order that it appears here. Wondermints/ Brian Wilson guitarist Nick Walusko not only co-produced the record but plays a lot of guitar on it, including the instrumental song, The Send Off, which he co-wrote with Rusty Squeezebox. Filled with swooningly swell harmonies, tremolo-soaked overdriven guitars, loud ass drums and bassist Jim Laspesa’s proto-melodic bass lines this record ends fittingly with an ode to science fiction writer, HG Wells. This record was made for those cool Fall days on the porch, feet kicked up with an ice cold one. Heck, it might even have a High Life.
