Estonia-based indie label Seksound offers Club Ghost, the second album by Zebra Island. Nearly a decade in the making, the record weaves together dreamlike pop, dancefloor energy, and a touch of melancholy. Helina Risti’s echo-drenched vocals, Rasmus Lill’s inventive, multi-layered harmonies, and Ivar Mägi’s ( Holy Motors ) tasteful guitar work create a sonic landscape where the familiar meets the unexpected.

Club Ghost is a spectral journey in which joy and sorrow, past and future, merge into one. The band describes the album as a place on the boundary between shadow and light, where apparitions guide the senses and time loses its meaning. “We’ve put our ghosts into these songs and brought them all together in one discotheque, where we can dance with them and say goodbye,” says Rasmus Lill, the band’s frontman and producer.

The album’s direction is hinted at by the lead single “Fool’s Gold,” which is also accompanied by a music video. Club Ghost is a compelling reminder that pop music can be melodic, experimental, and deeply emotional all at once. Club Ghost is an album for true music lovers and indie nerds lurking in the corner of the club. Its ten tracks form a cohesive whole while working just as well on their own. The album was mixed by Martin Kikas, mastered by Lauri Liivak, and designed by Seksound’s in-house designer Kaarel Vahtramäe.
