Previously self-released and sold out debut album “1111” by Estonian-Finnish synthpop group Popidiot is now available through Seksound catalogue. Popidiot are Hendrik Luuk and Matti Peura and also features Pia Fraus’ frontman Rein Fuks on recordings and live performances. Their shiny and glamorous pop music is made for dancing and listening pleasures. “1111” is already instant classic of Estonian synthpop. The group caused quite a bit of fuss among the estonian media and music experts with the debut album “1111”, originally released in 2006, owing to their controversial name, sincere electro-cowboy eclecticism and synthpop appeal. The album featured the song “Love vulture”, which became an absolute favourite among the estonian indie scene and internet-addicted teenagers hanging out in myspace. Popidiot’s sound is something like 80’s synthpop colliding with a riff guitar style jam session. You can hear elements of old Cure, Alphaville, and Yes!
