Acuarela is delighted to continue its long and very special relationship with The Wave Pictures (iconic collaborations include French Cricket 2x7", Canvey Island Baby 10", Watching Charlie’s Angels, Susan Rode The Cyclone and many more) with this new 7" that serves as both a perfect teaser and a collector’s companion to the band’s new album Gained / Lost (Bella Union).
Side A features the title track “You’re My Patient Now” taken directly from the new record: hardboiled Raymond Chandler meets Link Wray and The Cramps in a dreamlike psychobilly landscape. Side B delivers three brand-new, world-exclusive tracks available only on this Acuarela edition: “You Will Kill” (a Roky Erickson-style nightmare elevated by Holly Holden’s ghostly backing vocals), “Running Scared” (Modern Lovers + Guided By Voices with harmonica from Dominic Brider) and “Glass” (50s garage shoo-waddy-waddy turned into absurd rock’n’roll poetry by Jonny Helm).
The Wave Pictures remain one of Britain’s most enduring cult bands: nearly 30 years of fiercely independent indie-rock that refuses to sound like indie-rock, blending 60s garage, 70s classic rock and pure DIY spirit, with David Tattersall’s virtuosic guitar, Franic Rozycki’s expressive bass and Jonny “Huddersfield” Helm’s powerhouse drumming.
