Darla is pleased to present Slit, the debut album from female fronted Greek Punk trio Barb Wire Dolls. Recorded in Chicago in two days at Electrical Audio by Steve Albini, Slit is a stripped down and liberating listen.

Barb Wire Dolls combine first wave punk and grunge rock in a politically charged, hook-filled, three power chord punch. They are described by Guitar World magazine as "a true-to-the-genre punk band". We hear a more punk rock Hole, Babes In Toyland or a harder No Doubt with the politic of Crass. Fronted by the fiery and outspoken femme-fatale singer Isis Queen along with guitarist Pyn Doll and drummer Krash Doll, the band came together while living in an artist commune on the island of Crete. The songwriting on Slit is an examination of societal absurdities, a special interest and religious conspiracy to obscure truth and the urgency to wake-up and confront it before it’s too late.

Barb Wire Dolls shows have attracted rock icons Steve Jones (Sex Pistols), Chuck Dukowski (Black Flag), Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys), Jennifer Finch (L7) and Frances Bean Cobain. They have played SXSW and have toured across the US and Europe. Barb Wire Dolls will embark on a coast to coast US tour upon release of Slit.

The band was invited to play Los Angeles after DJ Rodney Bingenheimer started playing their demo non-stop on KROQ. Within a few weeks the band moved to California and sold out the Roxy on their first go, becoming the first (and only) punk band from Greece to perform in the US.

"Every few years or so a band comes along that changes the music landscape. They are different from the other bands that are out there. They bring something new and exciting to an otherwise generic music scene that the public has grown tired of. The Beatles did this, The Sex Pistols did this, Guns N' Roses did this, Nirvana did this. But for the past 20 years no band has been able to stand out from their predecessors. No band has been able to re-ignite the music scene, to bring back the energy it once had....that is until now. With their sound, their look and their attitude, Barb Wire Dolls are going to do what no band has been able to do within the last two decades...take the music industry by storm." - Sugarbuzz magazine

"Barb Wire Dolls throw down the gauntlet to today's pre-fab rebellion, pointing a middle finger where it so clearly belongs." - Blank TV

"Punk’s not dead and it never went away. It has been pushed underground for decades by the media because it speaks of the truth and exposes hypocrisy, but with the political climate of the world rapidly changing, a new female oriented punk resurgence has created a movement across the globe. One band in particular is shaking things up with their debut album. Hailing from the birthplace of Democracy, Barb Wire Dolls is a politically charged female-fronted Punk trio from Greece that combines the furious raw elements of first wave punk and grunge rock into a modern melodic sound that decimates hearts and minds." - Fixe magazine

"Some of the best punk rock since the Ramones!" - Christopher Stets/Spin magazine photographer

"As the world is experiencing a new punk rock renaissance, one punk band in particular has taken the city of Los Angeles by storm. There is a raw energy to their performances that make you want to sit up and pay attention to what they are saying, because for them, it’s not just about music. It’s about all aspects of existence. Their music carries a message, much like the anarchy of the Sex Pistols, but without the “no future for you” aspect of it. They preach free love and freedom to do what they want without being harnessed by society and ancient moral limitations." - Mudkiss fanzine

"Barb Wire Dolls prove that Punk is not dead. Combining the raw elements of Punk into a fast, furious, melodic sound." - Verge magazine

"Following in the footsteps of such rock vixens as Blondie's Debbie Harry, Nena Hagen, and Joan Jett is Isis Queen, trendsetter for a new generation." - Jerk Of All Trades magazine

"This is just what the world needs now, a good girl-fronted punk band." - Charlotte Cooper/The Subways

"They just may ignite another punk revolution." - Chicago Examiner

"Barb Wire Dolls could become huge, they are kinda like a girl-fronted Green Day." - Michael McDermott/Bouncing Souls
