Serious Krautrock! It's the lost NEU! record !!! It's no secret that Kurt Heasley has an uncanny knack for duplicating the sound of any pop/rock genre with all the authenticity and vitality of the original. His group The Lilys have always been an evolving and revolving meeting of musical friends for his whimsical recording and touring projects. And in this respect The Lilys latest incarnation is no different. But wait, this Lilys is entirely different from all previous. For Zero Population Growth, Kurt teamed up with long time fellow DC scenesters and artists in their own right Trevor Kampman (hollAnd) and Archie Moore (Velocity Girl, Lilys, Heartworms). The boys have collectively and successfully created a new Krautrock masterpiece modeled after NEU!, Harmonia, Kraftwerk.
Zero Population Growth sounds absolutely, authentically period, Germany 1975. It is a medium which Kurt, Archie and Trevor have all wanted to work in for some time. And Just as Kurt astonished so many with his keen ability to duplicate the Kevin Sheild's MBV sound, and was the first of many to do so, with In the Presence of Nothing (Slumberland/SpinART), and cop the The Kinks, The Who, The Beatles and The Beach Boys on subsequent releases Better Can't Make You Life Better (Che/Primary) and The Three Way (Sire), Kurt shows how exquisitely talented he is at recycling this genre. So, say Hallo zu der neu Lilies von Deutchland!!!
All tracks were recorded at Studio 45 in Hartford, CT 12 track/1" by Kurt Heasley, Michael Deming and Rick Bogdan. Only period synthesizers and equipment was used. With direction from Kurt Heasley, all tracks were custom mixed by Trevor Kampman at his No Name Studio in WDC and by Archie Moore at Omega Studios, Rockville, MD. And it's part of the Bliss Out series!
